The Devon Breed

Introduction

The Devon breed, also known as the Red Devon, North Devon and Red Rubies, get high marks for quality and quantity; the meat is well marbled and tender and the milk has a high percentage of butterfat and milk solids. Remarkably these valuable traits can be produced on a diet of 100% grass and hay. A certain subset of the breed is still fecund, early maturing, efficient, and prepotent.

Devon cattle have played an enormous role in the settlement of North America. The popularity of this breed has continued through the centuries, defying human fickleness in trends and fads as well as changes in response to market demand. The cycle has come full circle and once again the Devon is superbly suited to the 21st century needs of agriculture.

This section of our Website will give you all the information about the well-deserved popularity of the Devon Breed.
