A Letter from Laurel Hoffman
We are very pleased to announce to you the formation of the American Herbataurus Society. This new division of Bakewell Reproductive Center will enable us to better serve you the livestock producer. By establishing the standards of excellence for seed stock, we can help you reach your goals and assure the success of your breeding program.
Bakewell Reproductive Center (BRC) was established in 2002, offering comprehensive services to the grass-based livestock producer. BRC is particularly excited about the Devon breed because of its tremendous potential for success in the grass-fed meat industry. BRC is heavily involved with embryo transfer work with our imported Devon heifers and the distribution of semen from outstanding New Zealand Devon bulls.
BRC raises the bar for the definition of superior cattle genetics and we are prepared to help you find and create these genetics for your operation. The American Herbataurus Society will serve as a registry for the Devon Rotokawa bloodlines and other breeds that qualify for entrance. This society's primary objective is to assist cattlemen and cattlewomen in creating their own superior, paternal gene pools. These gene pools will produce animals that can efficiently convert grass to meat and at the same time are predictable, adaptable, and profitable. This registry will track the genealogy and breeding coefficient of all cattle entered into the herd book as well as other performance data. Upon request, available information can be used to establish a line breeding program.
Animals that meet the prescribed standards may be recommended and certified for breeding purposes. This lends confidence to the buyer and puts value on those animals.
As a member of the American Herbataurus Society, you become part of a community of families, individuals, and producers working together to create top quality cattle, which will meet the growing demand for healthy, flavorful, grass-fed beef.
On behalf of Gearld Fry and Ridgway Shinn, I personally invite you to become a member of the American Herbataurus Society and be a part of this exciting "grassroots" program.
Enclosed you shall find a membership application, animal registration form, mission statement with primary rules and regulations, and a fee schedule. Please contact us if you have questions.
