AHS Goals
Our specific goals are these:
- to set standards and specific animal traits required to produce a flavorful, tender, high-quality beef product on a diet of total grass
- to educate producers of the necessity of proper genetics and body structure (phenotype) in cattle to make their operation rewarding
- to serve as a registry for cattle breeds that qualify for entrance; the registry will track the genealogy and breeding coefficient of all cattle entered into the herd book as well as other performance data.
- to certify and recommend animals for breeding that meet the prescribed standards
- to establish the standards of excellence for seed stock
- to assist cattlemen and cattlewomen in creating superior paternal gene pools to produce animals that can efficiently convert grass to meat and at the same time are predictable, adaptable, and profitable
- to better serve the livestock producer
